Hudson Valley Wedding at the Poughkeepsie Grandview
Although Kelly and CJ booked my wedding services over a year before for their Hudson Valley Wedding at the Poughkeepsie Grandview, we did not formally meet till a few weeks before their wedding day. When I realized Kelly was from Windham, NY, I immediately asked her if she knew Antonia and Chris – another lovely couple who’s wedding I had photographed that past summer. Indeed she did! In fact Kelly had been at Antonia and Chris’s wedding and Antonia was coming to hers! This tickled me so much! I had really enjoyed meeting Antonia and Chris and their friends and therefore knew that Kelly and CJ would also have a fun and loving wedding.
Kelly and CJ met at Marist College and have been together ever since. It was therefore our hope to photograph their wedding day pictures at Marist. Unfortunately, rain was expected and we then choose the Poughkeepsie Train Station as their rain location. Not only was the train station close to the Poughkeepsie Grand Hotel where they were getting ready but also super close to their Hudson Valley Wedding at the Poughkeepsie Grandview venue. Even more amazing then the proximity was what an ideal photo location the Pougkeepsie Train Station makes. The Station built in 1918 is modeled after Grand Central terminal. Not only is the architecture stately, the main waiting room light and airy but the station also has many lovely covered locations that keep you outside in the Hudson Valley but yet dry in the rain. I would shoot at the Poughkeepise Train Station anytime, even if it was not raining! The Poughkeepsie Train Station did not disappoint, however, I could not help but feel sorry for Kelly. Marist College was significant to her and CJ and she really hoped to take their wedding day photos there. In the end though, they both seemed to take the alternative wedding day plans in stride and did not let the rain interfere with their wedding day joy.
Having already been together longer than many marriages, and having met in college, Kelly and Cj’s lives, including their family and friends, had melded long ago. Their wedding therefore a comfortable and true celebration of enduring love. Congratulations Kelly and CJ!!
