Nestled alongside the Willowemoc River, a renowned trout stream, an Antrim Streamside wedding provides a unique experience for couples wanting a Catskill wedding close to nature. And that’s exactly what Julie and Matt were looking for and got. Their weekend micro wedding at Antrim Streamside in Livingston Manor, NY was simply lovely. They gathered their closest family and headed to this gorgeous Catskill retreat. Even though the bride and groom reside in the Washington DC area, they flew to their Antrim Streamside wedding in a private plane piloted by the groom. The day after their wedding, they were due to fly themselves to Montreal for an after-wedding escape.
Julia And Matt’s Fall Antrim Streamside Wedding
Although I love the warmth and sunny vibes summer weddings bring, I can’t deny the beauty of a fall Catskill wedding - especially when it’s at a place like Antrim Streamside. The 250-acre property features two ponds, an apple orchard, excellent fly fishing, and hiking trails. It is also an excellent place to gather for a weekend wedding, there are six independent lodging options on-site. It was wonderful how the couple and their families gathered for the weekend and were able to enjoy the peaceful surroundings and spend some quality time together. I could see that it was a tight-knit group, and it’s always a delight to be around that kind of energy on a wedding day.
It was such a treat to photograph Julia and Matt’s Antrim Streamside wedding at this charming natural location. They had a sweet ceremony in the woods alongside the stream. I adored how these two walked down the "aisle" together. Another sweet element at Julia and Matt’s celebration was the ring ceremony, in which yarn was weaved throughout the guests and along it, the rings were passed to each person who warmed them with blessings. And this completely warmed my heart too! While each person was there to support and celebrate the couple, the ring ceremony was an incredibly beautiful and personal touch to the wedding day.
Julia and Matt had a quiet excitement about them. Their love felt deep but also quiet. I never aim to just guide my couples from one stiff pose to another, and going into this wedding, I knew I wanted to photograph moments as they unfolded - even if they were happening between the poses. Julia and Matt have such a beautiful bond and I wanted to ensure that that’s what they saw when they saw their couples portraits. So the three of us went on a little walk around the property.
Julia wore a graceful white lace bridal dress and Matt chose a blue suit for their Antrim Streamside wedding. When the air turned chili, Julia added a cute cardigan to the attire (which I’d highly recommend to brides getting married outside in the fall/winter). The colors they chose were perfect for the surroundings, and as I shot their portraits, the couple smiled and hugged and laughed and took some time to soak in the moment. They looked so happy, and Julia and Matt, if you are reading this, I hope your wedding photos always remind you of what you felt in that moment.
I also wanted to capture the genuine joy and love their guests brought with them, and the ceremony was the perfect time to do it. Like I said, one of the best parts of the ceremony was when the guests warmed the rings with their blessings, and as a photographer, capturing those moments was amazing. I hope that for my bride and groom, those images serve as a reminder of how much they are truly loved and cherished.
