Late-Fall Spillian Wedding in the Catskill
As a Hudson Valley and Catskill wedding photographer, I am been blessed with exquisite landscapes and wedding venues as my backdrop to create photos that my couples can cherish forever. However, The Spillian wedding is a venue I most lusted after. So, when Fran and Alex’s asked me to photograph their late-Fall Spillian wedding in the Catskills, I was elated.
The Spillian, a historic victorian-era mansion originally built in the 1880s by the Fleischmanns Yeast family is nestled amongst the Catskill woods and exudes mood like no other wedding venue I have ever experienced. It is feels haunted with past reveling. The original dark paneling, moody lighting, the large windows all lean into the dramatic and dark light I favor most when photographing.

I was charmed by Fran and Alex the first time we met, just before their wedding. They seemed very connected and their energies complemented one another. Alex felt sure of himself but easy. Fran was absolutely kind and her blue-green eyes flashed fire.
After spending time with these two and their families, on the wedding day, I was totally charmed all over again. I adored my couple’s warm and welcoming families that made me feel like one of their own. On top of it, Alex totally impressed me with his gentle but protective spirit. He was thoughtful in his approach, sure, and always a gentleman. These two are so very lucky to have found each other.
On their wedding day, both, Fran and Alex, were calm and excited at the same time. They were excited about their intimate Spillian wedding celebration but calm in their commitment to each other and for me, that’s what made photographing these two a meaningful experience!
I have been dreaming about photographing a wedding at the Spillian since I first realized it existed. As I explored the mansion for the first time, I gasped at the light and the old-world charm as I went from room to room. The Spillian immediately struck me as a magical and ethereal place to have an intimate wedding. I knew the shad. I’m happy that Fran and Alex totally supported my enthusiasm and that The Spillian did not disappoint.
From the gorgeous getting-ready photos to images of the pretty bridesmaids, from Fran’s first look for Alex to my bride’s walk down the aisle, I loved capturing their fall Spillian wedding all on my camera. It was a magical day and I’d totally go back to the Spillian to photograph more weddings in the future.
