Seated atop the Hudson Highlands with breathtaking views of the Hudson River, The Garrison is a wedding venue I have a special connection with. In many ways, The Garrison is my “home” turf. This is where I photographed my first event – my daughter’s eighth-grade school dance and my first portrait. So when my clients Lauren and Anthony gave me the opportunity to photograph their gorgeous fall wedding at The Garrison, all the beautiful memories came rushing back when I reached this dreamy venue surrounded by dense greenery and mesmerizing mountainous landscape to document their big day. And that was another reason why I was super kicked about photographing Lauren and Anthony’s wedding. Add to that the lovely time I had in the company of the lovely couple and their wonderful guests, and that right there was a perfect blend for a beautiful fall wedding at The Garrison.

Now coming to Lauren and Anthony, I have to say that I really adore these two. They are my favorite type of people – kind and fun. On their wedding day, they were both completely present in all the memorable moments of the day, without getting distracted or bothered by the little things that don’t really matter in the end. Another thing worth noting about this couple was that they did not take themselves too seriously and allowed one another to be moved by their commitment toward each other. I could just see how simply, wildly, and wholeheartedly in love these two were. Lauren was relaxed but also excited when I arrived at the location. She was eager to begin her married life with such a great man and ready to enjoy their wedding day! And why not? It was THEIR special day and the celebration of THEIR love and union after all. Seeing Lauren and Anthony soak in their day in the company of their closest people made my day. This is what I want for all my couples!

And I was right! Their fall wedding at The Garrison was so much fun! That photo where Anthony just let loose and jumped on the bed for a picture while getting ready set the mood for the fun and emotional day ahead.

One of my favorite moments of the day was during the first look. When Anthony saw Lauren for the first time already for their wedding. He was so moved, he could not control his tears. It was really beautiful to witness and capture and testament of Anthony’s love for Lauren.

Soon it was time for the ceremony, which was simple and sweet. I loved how one moment, Lauren and Anthony were laughing hysterically and crying the very next moment, overwhelmed with emotion. The warmth and support by the guests, the cheering, and the display of those sweet and beautiful emotions made this day all the more memorable. The bridal party was a happy bunch, and so was their families.

The reception was a party! It was great to watch the couple and their friends let loose on the dance floor. Honestly, what could be better than dancing into your new life and welcoming it together?
