Greenport Beach Elopement

Wedding planning can be complicated in the best of times.  Throw a global pandemic into the mix and the only choice you have is to just roll with it the best you can.  This Greenport beach elopement is the perfect example of that. 

Jennifer and José originally hired me to document their August 2020 Sound View Greenport wedding in Greenport, NY. I immediately recognized these two as being very sincere and sweet. I was excited to meet them and be a part of their North Shore Long Island wedding.  

We set up a date to meet for the first time and then COVID came and meeting in person was no longer possible. Jennifer even mentioned the possibility of having to postpone their summer 2020 wedding. I remember being stunned at that time. It was March of 2020, her wedding was not till August 2020.  I thought this COVID “thing” would surely pass by then.  I was still hopeful that their late summer wedding would still be happening. I actually felt bad, in hindsight, being so optimistic about it to Jennifer.  I could not have been more wrong about the longevity of the COVID pandemic. Jennifer and José definitely had a better perspective than I and I felt bad for downplaying their concerns at the time.  

We waited for some clarity about whether they should be having a larger wedding in the summer of 2020 and then waited some more. It then became clear that their Greenport wedding would have to be rescheduled.  

However, something else unexpected happened in the meantime, Jennifer and José became pregnant! With a baby on the way and no definitive idea of when they could postpone their wedding to, Jennifer and José decided on a simple Greenport Beach elopement instead.  

It was mid-November of 2020 when they decided to elope.  We decided to do some photos of just them at their original wedding venue, Sound View Greenport first, and then headed to a local beach at sunset for their simple ceremony.  Their Greenport beach elopement was simple and sweet.  It was not warm as it would have been in August.  In fact, there was a November chill in the air.  They were not surrounded by a crowd of their friends and family, however, their firstborn child was in “attendance”. It was just them, and the North Shore sunset. And it was beautiful and romantic. The wind was blowing a bit and I could not hear every bit of their ceremony but I was still moved by it.  Their Greenport Beach elopement was lovely and exactly how it was supposed to be.
