Hollow Brook Wedding Photographer | Olivia + Tyler

Olivia and Tyler are lovely people; kind and genuine.  They also come from lovely families.  I already knew Olivia’s family but after meeting Tyler’s at their Hollow Brook Wedding in Cortlandt Manor, I understood their connection more deeply.  These two are bookended by good folk.  They both come from decent families who love them wholeheartedly.

Olivia and Tyler live in the same town as me.  I know Olivia from running into her around town.  I also know her family as her mother worked in the office in my daughter’s high school up until very recently.  Also, I often interacted with Olivia’s mom and dad at the local favorite restaurant.  I also knew Olivia’s grandfather from the usual local hangouts.  In fact, I photographed Olivia’s sister’s wedding a few years ago.  

When I arrived at their Hollow Brook wedding day, I was a little dismayed by the drizzling rain.  Luckily, it was short-lived and by the time Olivia and Tyler were ready to step outside of Hollow Brook for their first look, the rain stopped completely. 

Olivia and Tyler were a dream couple; deeply in love and not shy about showing it.  Tyler almost had me in tears while he was waiting for Olivia to greet him at their first look.  I have never encountered a groom so unabashedly excited to marry his love. 

Their love is pure – based on mutual respect, adoration, and care.  It was also wonderful to watch these Olivia’s emotions play across her face throughout the day.  She was joyful, earnest, and truly caught up in every moment on her wedding day.  I don’t see this in the moment rapture often.  

Another AMAZING thing about Olivia was what she told me before her wedding.  She said, ‘I am all yours’ – please don’t hesitate to guide us throughout the day in any way I saw fit as a photographer. 

This is truly unprecedented in two ways – one she still remained present throughout her day and two, no bride has ever said this to me.  This was a gift.  A gift of trust.  The ultimate gift as a photographer.  Of course, I did not want to intrude on her day but the couple of times I did, Olivia obliged me.  

A Hollow Brook Wedding has great potential for a spectacular sunset!

The best was during the reception.  It was just before sunset and I really wanted to give her and Tyler some low in the sky, sun-kissed portraits.  I went outside at what I figured was the best time and was so happy that the sun was beaming  – for what seemed the first time that day.  I could tell it was the perfect time and conditions. 

I asked a couple of Olivia’s friends if they could go inside and ask Tyler and Olivia to come outside.  I would have gone myself but I was too afraid that if I left the sun for a moment it would disappear.  Olivia’s friends promptly went to fetch her and Tyler and lo and behold they were at my side within a minute.  That never happens.
