Hudson Valley Elopement Photographer | Kathleen + Nick
As a Hudson Valley elopement photographer, I really enjoy it when a couple makes their wedding their own. Kathleen and Nick did this in many ways. However, what I especially liked was how they extended their spring wedding over two days. On the Friday before their Saturday reception, they had a simple and intimate wedding ceremony with family on the Hudson Riverfront in Garrison, NY. The following evening they had a lovely reception at the wonderful Hubbard Lodge in Cold Spring, NY. I imagine that breaking a wedding up over two days really helps relieve the stress of trying to do everything in a single day. Although Kathleen and Nick did not hire a photographer for their Hubbard Lodge reception, I felt very lucky to catch up with them and their guests when they started pouring into the local pub after. Kathleen and Nick live right up the street from me in Cold Spring, NY. I’m always excited to photograph locals. It was especially cool to realize that we had so many friends in common.
Another way Kathleen and Nick broke tradition with their Hudson Valley wedding elopement is in what they wore. Kathleen’s dress was simple, NOT white, and absolutely gorgeous. Teamed with Nicks Tattersall suit, the appeared effortlessly chic. As a guest at their wedding put it, “I have not seen a classier bride”. After their simple ceremony, Kathleen and Nick and their guests simply walked down to another amazing local spot, Dolly’s Restaurant for a casual dinner.
