Highlands Country Club Wedding, Garrison NY. Photographing a local family’s wedding, can never happen enough. When a local mother of the bride asks me to photograph her daughter’s wedding, I am honored beyond measure and when they mention the Highlands Country Club as the venue, I am over the moon. Highlands Country Club is my most favorite Hudson Valley wedding location and just happens to be five minutes from my home. I knew the parents of the bride from our mutual visits to a local favorite eatery,
Riverview Restaurant, from our associations with the local school and also because the bride’s late grandfather, Teddy, was a friend and legendary character in these parts. Ironically, just recently when out to dinner (at Riverview, of course) with another Hudson Valley couple who’s wedding I photographed, they even mentioned knowing Teddy from his gentle jaunts to the Newburgh Riverfront. Teddy was that cool. I regret not having the opportunity to photograph him, though I did try.
Although, I knew the Bride’s parents and her grandfather, I did not know the bride, Kelly, or the groom, Randy, prior. The couple met working at the infamous Strand Book store in Manhattan where they work to this day. Hence the used books as part of their table centerpieces! Kelly is also a photographer and I must admit to being intimated by this fact prior to the wedding. However, I felt only ease when capturing their day. Their ceremony was heartfelt and I lost it crying when Kelly danced with her father. Overall, Kelly and Randy were calm, cool and filled with love for each other – their only priority on their wedding day was to enjoy each other and celebrate with family and friends. That they did. I so wanted to put my camera aside and join in with them! It was such an honor to witness and record this family’s union and I am grateful for the opportunity to get to know them all better. I was so impressed with everyone. Congratulations Kelly and Randy!
