Weddings are all about festivities and people celebrating the couple and their union. But they are also about those little unexpected moments that end up outshining all the rest. At Katie and Dima’s wedding Saratoga Springs SPAC wedding, it was the vows that really got to me, and I think every other person in the room too. They were so heartwarming and certainly one of the most emotion-filled vows I’ve ever had the honor to hear and witness.
The couple had originally planned a wedding at the National Museum of Dance in Saratoga Springs. However, when the museum unexpectedly closed, the Saratoga Performing Arts Center (SPAC) took over and offered them its facilities for their wedding instead. What are the chances, right?
Katie & Dima’s Saratoga Springs SPAC Wedding
For those of you who don’t know, SPAC is a popular open-air amphitheater that has been hosting musical and art performances for decades. The main stage of the venue was an unexpectedly impressive location for a wedding ceremony. Who knew that the same stage they have watched concerts on would be where Katie and Dima would end up getting married? It was the perfect setup for the kind of wedding they wanted and their guest list too.
Katie was calm and excited to marry Dima by the time I arrived to photograph her getting ready. Her best friend helped her get dressed up and also presented Katie with an extremely thoughtful wedding day gift - a bridal bouquet locket that featured a photo of her and Dima's dog and cat! It was PRRRfect!
The room where Katie got ready, had the most amazing lighting, and this was perfect for taking portraits of the bride, her mom, and her best friend.
The wedding was a close-knit affair, with Katie and Dima’s closest loved ones in attendance. The wedding was officiated by Alex, who also happened to be the groom’s best friend. Both Katie and Dima were super happy that their Saratoga Springs SPAC wedding day had finally arrived and that they could make their union official and celebrate with family and friends.
The groom floored us all with his perfectly composed vows that were both humorous and heartfelt. I laughed and then cried and then laughed and cried some more. Dima, if you are reading this, I hope you don’t take this the wrong way, but I don't think anyone at your wedding expected your vows to be so moving - not even Katie. And I certainly did not expect to get so emotional either!
After the ceremony, I whisked away the couple for some romantic couple's portraits. The towering pine trees at the SPAC made for the perfect backdrop for their portraits. SPAC’S newly renovated The Pines@SPAC, with its second-floor balcony, was Katie and Dima’s reception location. To add the reception vibes, it was decked up with colorful blooms. Everyone was truly happy, and it seemed like they were just there to have a good time and genuinely play their part in making Katie and Dima’s wedding day extra special.
