West Point Wedding | Rubi and Christian

Rubi and Christian are a couple I will never forget. Their West Point wedding was not extravagant or large—about fifty guests filled the chapel—but their story filled me with emotion and awe well after I left. Their wedding package only included four hours of coverage, but that was more than enough to capture the rare love that this couple has for each other.

A Beautiful Beginning for a Beautiful Couple

Rubi and Christian met at a college Bible study group in Vermont. Not long after, he transferred to West Point Military Academy. They quickly realized that their friendship went much deeper, and they decided to get married. He completed the Academy while she traveled to Jordan to teach English during their engagement. Since Rubi was overseas, Christian reached out to me about photographing their wedding. I was flattered to later find out that Rubi so enjoyed my work she had insisted that Christian find a way to secure me as their photographer. They had a specific budget, but with a simply elegant wedding, the smaller photo package worked perfectly! (I also love giving military discounts.)

But what made this wedding so memorable is that their first kiss as a couple was during their wedding ceremony! It was the most genuine moment I have ever witnessed at a wedding. As you can imagine, not once did I have to prompt them to kiss during the photos following the ceremony! I still can’t get over the emotions in these pictures—the way he looked at her, and the way her face constantly brimmed with joy! I don’t know if I’ve ever seen such a tough military man smile so big. Hopefully, you enjoy these snapshots from their West Point wedding day as much as loved capturing them!
