If you’ve read my blogs on the regular (no shame if you haven’t), you might notice they share an overlying theme to them - getting to the essence. These ideas have been floating in my mind since I can remember contemplating anything and most certainly influence my portraiture. I gravitate towards couples who are seeking more than the superficial on their wedding day.  Emily and Wesley are such a couple and this was reflected in their Bad Seed Cider Wedding. This makes sense, as they are both artists.

Emily is a photographer.  http://emilyeesty.com/  and Wesley is a filmmaker. They, in fact, met at the Maine Media Workshops. Both Emily and Wesley’s art has a quiet intelligence about it. I encourage you to check their work out.

I have to admit, knowing that Emily and Wesley were both such wonderful artists, was actually a bit intimidating as their wedding photographer. 

Emily and Wesley’s wedding ceremony took place under the large oak tree at Bad Seed Cider.  They incorporated the beloved poem, The Invitation, into their vows.  This made me particularly happy as The Invitation has long been one of my most favorite poems. I had to refrain from shouting, “I love that poem!” in the middle of their ceremony. 

Bad Seed Cider is not a typical wedding venue. It lends itself to a more intimate and relaxed wedding atmosphere.  And like Emily and Wesley's wedding, it gets to the essence - simply celebrating love with family and friends.
