Cold Spring NY Waterfront Wedding with Vintage Feels
omeone rightly said, “Love is what happens when two hearts find their happy place right beside each other.” And, I witnessed this essence when I photographed Mary Kate and Erik’s Cold Spring, NY waterfront wedding with vintage feels. Woah! It was an intimate, late spring wedding along the Hudson River waterfront in the serene village of Cold Spring, and the ceremony took place at The Chapel Restoration. I know these places well as I easily walk to them from my village home, and that’s something which made it so exciting for me! I loved incorporating my local Hudson Highlands landscape into their wedding day portraits. The wedding images turned out to look just the way I had envisioned them, for them - stunning!
I had first met Mary Kate and Erik at a local pub after they inquired about my Cold Spring NY Waterfront Wedding Photography
wedding photography services. I instantly felt at ease with them and adored the way they operated as a unit as we sat and discussed their wedding vision. My couple looked timeless, or I should say - from another era. My teenage daughter, who helped me with the family photos later, said that our bride, Mary Kate, had an ethereal beauty to her. And, I’m in complete agreement!
I also quickly learned that Erik was a graduate of CCNY's Sonic Arts Center - a program my daughter was vying to enter. She very recently was accepted into this fine musical engineering program and when I reached out to Mary Kate to see if Erik would talk to my daughter directly about the program, he graciously did in an instant. He thoughts were also extremely helpful to my daughter. Thank you again, Erik.

Mary Kate and Erik opted for a morning ceremony at the quaint Chapel Restoration overlooking the Hudson. It was followed by a luncheon at X20 Xaviars on the Hudson restaurant in Yonkers, NY. Photo coverage was not needed at their luncheon, so I started documenting my bride early in the morning while she was getting ready at the Cold Spring Airbnb.
When I arrived at the location, I noticed this lovely light coming through the window - that was partially blocked by an air conditioning unit. UGH!!! Usually, it is not feasible for me to remove the window units because of their size, but this seemed small enough. The Maid of Honor and I stood contemplating moving the unit when I realized the best thing to do was to not think about it and just go ahead. I looked at the Maid of Honor and said "Let's @#$% do this." She nodded, and we quickly pulled the AC unit off the window and moved it aside. It was totally worth it. Now, I just adore these simple window-lit portraits of Mary Kate!!!
The warm late spring air in contrast with the still awakening Hudson River had caused a lovely fog in the Hudson River Valley that morning, which could have been concerning. However, by the time we started with Mary and Erik's portraits at a nearby park, the fog lifted just perfectly and hugged the Hudson Highlands, offering a sublime background for our photos. What a beautiful experience this Cold Spring NY Waterfront Wedding was.
