Why Choose an Intimate or Micro Wedding?
Since COVID reshaped the way we gather and celebrate, a growing number of couples are embracing the beauty of an Intimate wedding and elopement in the Hudson Valley. Whether you're envisioning a private vow exchange beside the Hudson River, a cozy dinner with loved ones at a tucked-away inn, or a whimsical celebration under the stars, there’s a perfect setting for your story here.
This list focuses on intimate venues for micro weddings or elopements. If you are looking to elope and are seeking a wide range of location options, please see my complete resource on eloping in the Hudson Valley.

THE DETAILED LIST
1. Spillian (Fleischmann, NY)
If I were to have my own intimate wedding or elopement in the Hudson Valley, this is the spot I’d choose. Spillian is a mood-rich, Victorian-era mansion built in the 1880s by the Fleischmanns Yeast family—and it radiates personality. It's quirky, cozy, and absolutely steeped in history and character.
While the estate can host up to 100 guests, it truly shines with a smaller group—twenty or so close friends and family would feel just right. The mansion features eight eclectic guest rooms upstairs, making it perfect for a weekend-long celebration where everyone can stay under one roof.
Beyond the house, Spillian is surrounded by enchanting forest, with an outdoor ceremony spot tucked in the trees, a serene pond, and a fire pit ready for post-dinner stories under the stars. Catering is provided in-house, and the owner, Leigh, is also a licensed officiant—so you're in good hands from start to finish.
For couples who want something a little offbeat, full of soul, and deeply personal, Spillian is a gem.

2. The Chapel Restoration & Hudson House River Inn (Cold Spring, NY)
Tucked along the riverfront in the picturesque village of Cold Spring, The Hudson House and The Chapel Restoration offer a perfect pairing—or standalone options—for an intimate Hudson Valley wedding. These two historic gems are just a short walk from each other, making them an ideal duo for couples seeking a charming ceremony and cozy reception without needing to shuttle guests around.
The Hudson House, built in 1832, is a warm and welcoming inn with on-site accommodations and an elegant restaurant overlooking the river. It’s the closest public venue to the Cold Spring waterfront, offering stunning views and a walkable location right in the heart of town. I’ll be photographing my first wedding there this year, and I already know the area well—the nearby riverside park is one of my favorite places to photograph couples. The light, the scenery, the vibe—it’s all magic.
Just up the hill sits The Chapel Restoration, a Greek Revival chapel built in 1833 and perched above the Hudson River. It’s a serene and striking ceremony site with sweeping views and timeless architecture. The simplicity and beauty of this space make it a true hidden treasure for micro weddings and elopements.
Whether used together or separately, these two Cold Spring locations offer history, beauty, and walkable ease—perfect for a small wedding that feels both special and grounded in place.

3. Vanderbilt Lakeside (Philmont, NY)
Nestled beside a peaceful lake in the quaint town of Philmont, Vanderbilt Lakeside offers a stylish and soulful escape for couples dreaming of a relaxed yet refined wedding weekend. This boutique inn blends vintage charm with modern design, creating a warm, welcoming atmosphere that feels like hosting your celebration at the home of a very cool (and very design-savvy) friend.

Whether you envision an outdoor ceremony by the water or a candlelit dinner inside, the property is full of character and thoughtful details.
There are several beautifully designed guest rooms on site, making it easy to turn your wedding into a full weekend experience with your closest people. The food and drink program is exceptional, with locally inspired menus and a strong focus on hospitality.
If you’re looking for a venue that’s laid-back, photogenic, and deeply Hudson Valley in spirit, Vanderbilt Lakeside is absolutely worth a visit.

4. Bird and Bottle Inn (Garrison, NY)
Tucked away in the woods just outside of Cold Spring, the Bird and Bottle Inn is a hidden gem that feels like something out of a storybook. With ivy-covered stone walls, cozy interiors, and centuries of history (it dates back to the 1700s), this venue is full of character and charm—perfect for an intimate wedding that feels both romantic and relaxed.
The inn’s beautifully landscaped grounds include a sweet ceremony space nestled in the trees, a tented reception area for dinner and dancing, and plenty of tucked-away corners for quiet moments or stunning portraits. There are also several guest rooms on-site, making it easy to turn your celebration into a weekend getaway with your closest friends and family.
It’s whimsical, woodsy, and wonderfully moody—my kind of place. If you're looking for a location that balances rustic charm with historic elegance, the Bird and Bottle Inn is a magical little haven for an intimate wedding and elopement in the Hudson Valley.
